ABOUT CAMBODIA

Introduction

Kampuchea known as the Kingdom of Cambodia, which has had one of the best economic records in Asia, with economic growth Strong in agriculture, construction, garments, and tourism sectors led to foreign investments and international trade. The tourist infrastructure in Cambodia has developed tremendously in recent years, including the opening of quality hotel and restaurants and the upgrading of roads which arm to open and welcome multi nation of visitors whom willing to visit this peaceful country.

Geography & Climate

Cambodia is a country in Southeast Asia, situated on the Gulf-east of Thailand, west of Vietnam, and south of Laos. It Occupying an area of approximately 181,035 square Kilometers (land: 181,035 km², water: 4,520 km²) in the south-western part of the Indochinese peninsula and lies completely with the tropics. Forest covers about two-thirds of the country. Unofficially, Average daytime temperatures generally range from 25C to 30C, but can drop to 23C during the coolest months and hit 40C during the peak of the dry season.

Royal Government

The politics of Cambodia takes place in a frame work of a constitutional monarchy, which was instituted under the leadership of HM King Norodom Sihanouk follow democratic elections in 1993.  The government power under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Sen (CPP).

Language

Khmer is the national language for Cambodian, besides using national language they also use international language such as English and Chinese. Some of the people live close to the border of neighboring country; they can use neighboring language such as Thai and Vietnam as well.

Religion

Cambodian believes in Buddhism, which was introduced in the 12th century. It is enhanced by traditional Animist beliefs and Brahmanism practices long imported from India to form a very Cambodian fusion religion. There are small amount of people believe in Muslims and Christian.

Airport & Taxes

We have three airports currently operated – Phnom Penh international Airport, Siem Reap international Airport and Sihanouville domestic airport.  It is available for daily flight between Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville, gateway to the temple of Angkor and the beach. We also have airport in Bathambong, Stung Treng, Ratanakiri and Koh Kong, but they are not currently operated. The airport tax is included in the Air ticket which are 25$ for international flight and 6$ for domestic flight.

Passports & Visas

Passport valid at least  6 months prior to the travelling date allow to enter Cambodia, One-month tourist visas, costing US$20, one-month business visa costing  US$25 and requiring one passport-sized photograph are available on arrival at Phnom Penh and Siem Reap airports and all land border crossings. It is also possible to arrange a visa through Cambodian embassies overseas or an online e-visa (US$25) through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Currency

The Riel is Cambodia’s official currency (US $1 = 4000 riel), but US dollars are widely accepted. Most hotels, shopping center, super market and restaurants accept international credit cards such as Visa and Master and travellers cheques. Most momently, it is more convenience for guest to use a combination of cash and travellers cheques. There are now international debit card and credit card-compatible ATMs in most major towns and cities.

Electricity

All urban areas have minimum electricity (220 volts). Many places are equipped with private power generators. Most sockets found in hotels are French style two-pin, but most properties can provide an adaptor on request.

Flights

Airlines currently servicing Cambodia include local carrier Cambodia Angkor Air (a subsidiary of Vietnam Airlines) and Bay yon Air ( a subsidiary of China), as well as international carriers Thai Airways, Bangkok Airways, Silk Air, Malaysia Airlines, Dragon Air, Lao Airlines,  Eva Air, China southern Airlines, China eastern Airlines, China Air, Korean Air, Asana Air and Vietnam Airlines. There are also several budget airlines, including Air Asia, Tiger Air, Cebu pacific Air and Jetstar Asia. Direct flights to Cambodia are available from Bangkok, Saigon, Hanoi, Vientiane, Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Guangzhou, Taipei, Shanghai and Seoul. In 2014, we also has several airlines just operate in Cambodia such as Bassaka Air and Bayon Air, which they launch up their flight for domestic routing.
